The Features are a Nashville, Tennessee based rock band. The purpose of this Tumblr is to provide a comprehensive and interactive database of the Features' music. The blog is named after the Features song "The Damage Is Done."

If you would like any of the unreleased songs featured on this site, you can download them yourself or email me for copies. I am not able to send every Features song I own in one go, mainly because I don't have a way of hosting all the files, and I also gotta keep some song tricks up my blog sleeve. Specific song requests are the easiest ones to fulfill. It might take a little while to respond but I will try my best. I will not send songs that have been officially released in any capacity, so buy their albums.

For the week leading up to the release of the Features’ new album, Some Kind of Salvation, I will be posting an older version of some of the songs from the album. This is part 3 of Some Kind of Week.

    The Features
    “Stick Together”
    Unreleased Demo

“Stick Together” was already done and gone by 2001, with no chance of being resurrected. This was, of course, due to the fact that half of the song had already morphed into the juggernaut that was “Leave It All Behind” (you know, just one of the most played Features songs ever). Having never heard “Stick Together” live, I can’t imagine what it would have sounded like. The recording featured here, the only version of the song I have, doesn’t sound like the Features or even the pre-Rollum Features. The song is slow, kinda meandering and tentative. I’ve always considered it to be a quirky part of Features history.

This recording was done by Sean Brennan, most likely for a class project. It does feature Rollum on drums, so that places the song in 1999 at the earliest. The first verse of this song would go on to become “Leave It All Behind” in 2001 and the chorus would be left alone for years. In January of 2006, the chorus would be resurrected in a song called “Lions Dressed In Leather.” The main, and really only, difference was that “rain and stormy weather” was replaced with the line “lions dressed in leather.” This song would be played a couple more times before the lineup change in the spring of 2006. With the new lineup, the song became “Lions” by early 2007. “Lions” shares all of its lyrics with “Lions Dressed In Leather” and has completely different music. “Lions” made its way onto the band’s second album, Some Kind of Salvation in 2008.

Special thanks to Brian Snyder for help with this entry.

    A VERSION APPEARS ON:
Some Kind of Salvation, album release (2008)

    LINEAGE:
Becomes “Leave It All Behind” (2001; same first verse)
Becomes “Lions Dressed In Leather” (2006; same chorus, slighty modified)
“Lions Dressed In Leather” becomes “Lions” (2007; fewer lyrics but all are the same, slightly modified chorus)
