The history of “Moonlight” was written about on May 24th.
The all-request show provided a lot of great moments, and hearing “Moonlight” back and sounding better than ever was definitely one of them. “Moonlight” had been absent from the rotation for about six months and would again fall back into obscurity for another ten months after this performance. This is, from what I can tell, the next to last time this song was played.

I can’t think of a prettier Features song, definitely, and it’s another one that I wish hadn’t faded away over time. I could list this song’s endless endearing qualities, but I’ll just mention the gentle guitar riff, the start/stop nature of the verses, the organ-driven breakdown leading to that timidly passionate bridge, and the line “stop making excuses,” which are all at the top of that endearing list. Matt Pelham knows how to write lyrics that tug at your emotions but it’s rare that they’re paired with music that does the same.
“Moonlight” debuted in December 2001 and was played very regularly until the summer of 2002. It then popped up frequently but more irregularly for the rest of 2002 and then became even more of a rarity in 2003. It only appeared once in September 2004, at the band’s acoustic in-store album release show at Grimey’s. That would be the song’s last performance. No recording of “Moonlight” has been released or leaked to fans, although it’s plausible that one exists.
